The biggest myth is that lash extensions will damage your natural lashes … they do NOT! If applied correctly they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes although be sure not to rub, tug or pull on the extensions as this can cause lash loss and even damage to the natural lashes. At whiplash when choosing your individual look, we have a full range of different extensions to help custom create a lash extension that will be non-damaging and easy to maintain.
In most cases eyelash extensions should last as long as your natural lashes which is an average of between 4 – 6 weeks. However their longevity will also depend on factors such as your daily cleansing routine, lash growth cycle , skin type and type of makeup products used, all issues covered in our aftercare advice. Having an infill performed every 2-4 weeks will help maintain the fullness of your eyelash extensions.
Follow the basic rules, no water in the first 24-hour period, use only oil free products near the eyes as oils in your make up remover, skin care and make up products will breakdown the adhesive on your lashes. Ask your lash stylists at whiplash for recommended products also be gentle with your lashes and avoid rubbing your eyes.
Having eyelash extensions applied is a completely safe and pain free procedure, specialist adhesive is used to apply the lash extension to the natural lash. The tools and equipment used are fully sterilised before and after each and every client. Before treatment begins at whiplash a thorough consultation will assess all possible allergies and eliminate associated risks.
Eyelash extensions are very safe and reactions are rare but in the case of pregnancy we would advise those who have not had their lashes done before not to try for the first time while pregnant as taking the necessary medication to counteract any reaction may be prohibited by your doctor. However, if you have successfully tried lash extensions before the only concern may be how comfortable you will be laying still for over an hour. We at whiplash will endeavour to make you as comfortable as possible throughout your treatment.
Yes of course. That is one of the many benefits to getting eyelash extensions, although weather you are swimming in chlorine or saltwater the lashes still need to be cleaned just like your hair needs to be washed. Gently pat the lashes after swimming with a dry towel or lint free cloth to dry and then use your disposable mascara brush to brush the extensions into place.
Before your lash appointment begins we would ask you to remove all traces of mascara on the lashes and only use an oil free make up remover to do so as any trace of oil on the lashes may prevent the extensions to bond to the natural lashes. Do not curl or perm the natural lashes before your appointment as this can affect how we apply the extensions. If your natural lashes are quite fair then it would be a good idea to get them tinted first as this will give you an even fuller look.
Yes, you most definitely can wear makeup with your eyelash extensions. Mascara that is specifically designed for lash extensions is best and can be applied to the tips of the extensions. Do not use oil based or waterproof mascara as any type of oil based mascara can break down the glue bond and cause the extensions to come off sooner. Only use an oil free makeup remover. Eyeliner and eyeshadows can be applied as long as it is oil free and removed daily, but remember less is more when it comes to applying eyeliner with lash extensions. The more eyeliner means more potential build up on your lashes.
A lash lift is like a perm for your natural eyelashes. A solution is applied on the lashes which are placed on silicone rods to straighten your natural lashes at the root creating curl and definition for 8-10 weeks and creating the illusion of longer looking natural eyelashes.
Most of the time, Yes, however if the natural lashes are extremely short they will not grip upwards on the silicone rods preventing the lash lift from happening. For best results the natural lashes should be medium to long length. Using a lash Growth serum could improve the length of the natural lashes.
The length of time your results will last depends on how quickly your hair grows back and how well your hair will hold the colour, on average you will need them done every 4-6 weeks.
Yes. We can put you on a regrowth program that will train your brows into shape over a course of visits. To make your brows look better between visits there are High Definition products that will make your eyebrows fuller and more defined.
Absolutely. Brow shapes are tailored to the individual as they have to suit your look and personality, your input is important in deciding the best shape and look for you.
Most people get the high definition look straight away however sometimes it may take a few visits for your brows to be perfected.
Unlike waxing, plucking and threading brow tinting is a colour service that does not take away any hair although usually a brow tint is complimented with a brow shape. Tinting brows is a great way to help your brows look fuller and more pronounced. The key is to find the right colour to compliment your skin tone and to accentuate what you have naturally.
Unfortunately, reactions to waxing can occur on sensitive areas of the face such as brow and lip area. It is important you tell us at Whiplash if you’re taking any medications or have changed any skincare products since your last visit. If you do have sensitive skin Threading is a much better alternative to waxing as there are no chemicals used on your skin – just the thread.
